Thumbs up Recycling Program for Plastic Twine from Hay Bales

A lady from Vancouver Island that is very involved in horses has been hard at work seeing if this was possible - and it is! that's great! And yes, I'm curious what it turns into, too. Anytime I can keep something out of the landfill, I'm happy.

Now, if anyone knows where I can deposit dead batteries, I'd be ever so grateful...

Well mom and I were thinking of what to do with baler twine from bales of straw and hay. Well today mom came into house with a lead in hand, not just any lead, a lead made by baler twine!!!!

We have our own recycling program for baling twine. That stuff comes in handy for so many things. I don't know what we'd do without it. We never throw it out, just keep a hook in the barn to hang the strings on and whenever we need to tie something, secure it, fix something in a jiffy, etc., its the first thing we grab.

I think next year I'm going to make my gift bows for presents for all my horsey friends from it. JK - but I think they would actually understand what it is and why I used it. I'm with Traveller - if you can find alternative uses and keep it out of landfills its a good thing.

I actually don't know. The lady in charge of the program would I'm sure but I never asked. Just was keen to get the word out.

The lady that spear-headed the program has asked that I post her name and number for those that are interested in this very important environmental program and have questions about it. Her name is Jill Ackerman and she can be contacted at 703-0048

Please let her know how you found out about the program if you contact her as I'm trying to do my part to get the work out there.
