well, I finally bit the bullet and started lungeing my overgrown filly. She's a TB/Holsteiner cross, and 3 years old. I decided to start her late because she had some stifle problems when she was a yearling, and she's huge for her age.

I started lunging about a month ago, just a few times with my boyfriend's help. She sort of got it at the walk, then I went away on holidays and she had two weeks of doing nothing. Today, she was walking and TROTTING!!!! Both ways!!! Her whoa has improved alot too. I'm soooo proud of her!! She stood like an angel while I groomed her before and after as well.

Today was great. Tia is doing SO well, I'm very proud. She trotted four circles each way without pulling on me barely at all. The whoa is coming slowly..........and her trot to walk still kinda sucks, but it's getting there.
I put boots on her for the first time today too. She wasn't scared at all-she tried to eat them-silly pony!!

We lunged for a half hour, and then I ground drove her for the first time!!! She was awesome!! I need some practice though-LOL. She's such a good pony. I hope to be on her by the weekend.......

Today I tacked her up.........first time she's had a bridle on in a year.......put the saddle on and it was a total non-issue........the bit was interesting though. I walked her around a bit to let her get used to stuff, then lunged......she was great!!!

She also cantered on the lunge on command for the first time today!!!! YIPEE!!

I'm a little behind

oops..........

So wednesday, I grounddrove/longlined her again....she was good!! The steering is getting better now.......a bit more lunging too.
She decided that the bridle isn't such a good idea and had a bit of a fit about it. I can see us having a bit of an issue about it for a few days.

She was being really good and quiet after I lunged her so I practiced banging the stirrups on her sides and putting my foot in the stirrups like I was going to mount. She was super good so I thought "why stop now?" and swung onto her back for like two seconds and got off again. She was awesome!!!!!!!!!

GUESS WHAT?????!!!!!!!! I RODE TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started with lunging her for about a half hour, put front polo wraps on her too. She looked so cute

Then I jumped on her and sat their for a few minutes while my boyfriend held her. Then we walked around in a small circle and I jumped off. I am sooooo proud of her!!!!!!!!!!!! She was an angel!!!!!!!!!

It was pretty hard to top yesterday!!

We lunged for about 10 minutes, and longlined about 15.........she was good. Tried to stop by the fence a few times though...we worked through it!!!
I love my horsie!!!!

I sponged her off after we were done, and she was a bit nervous but very good.
(She hates water, I swear she has arab in her LOL)

I also clipped her bridle path and a bit of her muzzle, and started pulling her mane. She stood really well. I can even walk to the tack room and leave the rope wrapped around the post, she stands really quietly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ewww. It's september. Ewww. School. Ick.

Anyway

Today we had an audience for our workout. My grandparents, boyfriend, a friend, and the owners of the farm where I board were all hanging around while I lunged. She was really really really good. I'm starting to wonder what the heck is going on! LOL. Chris helped lead her around while I got on her AGAIN!!!! YIPEE!!!!!! She was awesome again!!!!!! Dressage ring, here we come LOL!!

Lazy horse today!!!

She looked a bit sore behind, maybe rolled into the fence or something?????
She "helped" me clean her paddock (read: knocked over wheelbarrow, stole my fork to play with it-twice) LOL.
Lunged for 10 minutes 'cuz she didn't look quite right. Cantered to the right two full circles though, and did a flying change from the wrong lead to the correct one when I was about to trot her again. Such a smart pony.........I found a bump on her right front leg when we were done, must of missed it when I tacked her up

Put blue lotion on it, doesn't seem to hurt her.
Another day off tomorrow. SIGH.
She was good though.
